One of my teachers from Humber College has posted an opinion/rant on a very possible future of multimedia education.

The colleges are only hiring those who have degrees and companies are only hiring those who have experience??! Wouldn't it make more sense to have the companies hire those who are just out of school to give the students experience? Then the experienced employee could choose to move on to teaching and pass his/her knowledge and experience on to the eager students trying to get into the industry. If this ass-backwards trend continues, what will happen to the multimedia industry as a whole? Does it move on to career heaven to meet with the Fell Mongers and Cordwainers?

New Firefox!

Firefox 1.0 Preview Release was just released today. I was planning on waiting until the final 1.0 release before upgrading, but there were a couple features that I really wanted to try out.

The first feature I liked was the new 'Find on this page'. It now shows up at the bottom and highlights words on the page as you are typing. It's been done before but I still think it's cool.

The other feature that caught my eye is 'Live Bookmarks' which is essentially RSS feeds in your bookmarks. Click here to find out more. After adding a new tag, my blog's Latest page (HTML version) now has Firefox's little RSS button appear (mentioned on Mozilla's site). This will make it easy to add my feed to your bookmarks.

Slight site upgrade

Since my blog's archive section started to get pretty long. I decided to implement some sort of a calendar system. It took me some time to refresh my Coldfusion skills but it was worth it. Next I will be implementing a similar system into the Flash verison of this site.

Oh ya, Kanye West - The College Dropout CD and Burnout 3 for XBOX both kick ass. Just in case you wanted to know.
